How a River reaches an Ocean

There may be an exception or two or three but most rivers empty into the ocean.

But have you ever wondered how a river reaches the ocean?

The river has two banks which guide the river, giving it the freedom to move along but also protecting it from getting scattered. If the river fights the constraints of the banks, and breaks out, it will end up drying and dying.

Our spiritual journey can be compared to that of a flowing river.

During the journey, we seek the purpose of our existence. We seek the truth. We seek the reality.

But to find our ocean, we also need two banks — to help us remain focused and guide us through the journey so that we can too find our ocean.

So which banks do we need to guide us on our search for our self?

They’re not vows imposed upon us by others or laws that tell us what we can or cannot do.

What I’m talking about is discipline. Or rather the two banks of disciplines.

Disciplines come from within — when we start becoming self-aware. They come from our own realization that if we don’t do something, we’re the ones losing out. They arise from our own understanding of our energy and not wanting to waste it one minute longer.

When we listen to our inner conscious, we know what we want and what we don’t want.
