Silence

Many of us have lost touch with ourselves. We have forgotten who we are, what really matters to us, and what our life’s purpose is.

But, there are 100 good reasons for this disconnect.

Our live are demanding, fast-paced. We have numerous responsibilities. Some of us have to earn a living while some others among us have to take care of our aging parents while also tackling soccer practice, dance lessons, cooking, cleaning, and so many other day to day activities.

So it is no wonder that finding quiet time isn’t a priority. And even when we do find some moments to ourselves, “spending time in silence” is more than likely not going to be at the top of our “me time things to do” list.

But silence holds transformative power. And I do believe that if we had been taught the “skill of silence” from early childhood, half or more of our problems in adulthood would not exist.

Silence is a self-imposed timeout where we isolate ourselves from everything and everyone, “by choice”. [Unlike the timeouts of childhood, lol].

And all we have to do is find a quiet space, anywhere we can be completely alone, and sit quietly, with our eyes closed.

It won’t be easy because we thrive on “doing” so when it comes time to do nothing, we struggle. And the entire time, you’re going to want to check your phone or wonder if someone’s looking for you. Because worse than doing nothing is being alone and doing nothing.
