In ancient times, there was a kingdom that had made a mark for itself. It outshone other kingdoms under the able royal leadership of its wise king. But one day, the king fell ill and everyone including himself knew that the end was near.
Soon, the king held a coronation ceremony and declared his prince the new king of the land.
The new king was a good person too. Following in his father’s footsteps, he too took good care of his subjects, and was well-liked by everyone.
He was well-educated and had abundant knowledge in finance, administration, and law. He was also well-trained in the art of war and was a good leader. He slowly began expanding his kingdom by leading his men on numerous expeditions and battles.
The only bad trait the new king had was that he liked to be surrounded by young, educated people. He still employed his father’s trusted advisors but he usually sought counsel from the young men who made up his close circle of advisors.
His army too was made up of younger men who he thought could better serve him and the kingdom.
After one victorious but arduous battle, the king and his men were passing through a long, uninhabited desert-like region that was dry and devoid of any vegetation.
The journey was slow and everyone seemed on the verge of collapse. The king had hoped to find food and shelter, but after the second day, they were no closer to any village or town. They were running low on supplies and had…
